Introduction to the course
This course allows students to gain a Level 1 City and Guilds Plumbing and Heating qualification, ideal if you are interested in getting into the building services industry. It covers all the essential basic skills and knowledge you'll need to start working as a plumber, or engineer specialising in heating or ventilation.
The course is taught at two locations in North East London, in Enfield and Tottenham.
It consists of practical and theory assignments and training so that students finishing the diploma have a good foundation from which to begin work or continue studying towards Level 2.
The core components of this plumbing and heating course are installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems, above ground drainage, pipework (copper, plastic, low carbon steel) and plumbing science.

What do I need?

You will need to attend College for an interview, complete an initial assessment, which is a test to check your level of English and maths and have a good reference.
How is the course taught?
The lessons you are taught are mainly theory-based with practical training and assessment which includes assignment writing, theory and practical assessments.
How will I be assessed?
This qualification is 50% practical and 50% theoretical.
You will be assessed on your completed practical tasks, using industry standards. Written assessment will include multiple choice questions, paper-based exams and written assignments.

From this course you can progress onto Level 2 in Heating and Plumbing, subject to full completion of the Level 1 and a satisfactory level of attendance.
